Which loops at Fort Wildernes have been renovated so far?

We're going to Fort Wilderness Oct. 3-10 and was wondering which loops have had the new changes made already or will have been made by the end of Sept. We usually request the 1000 loop. Thanks! Steve

RE: camping in Orlando - "Bill Frederick Park at Turkey Lake"

It's great! I believe it's the closest RV park to Universal Studios and not that far from Disney. Stayed there twice before.

RE: Camping at Disney Orlando

Here is something that has worked for us with school age children. Our schools are usually out the last week to 10 days of May. We leave immediately from school the day it lets out and drive. We don't do that if that means driving during the Memorial Day weekend (we don't drive on holidays). We have found that the VERY first of summer is really not that bad as crowds go. Much better than spring break, we quit that years ago. We sometimes leave the day before school is out. The other time we like is during our schools fall break in Oct. Again, we sometimes leave a day early. Most years we go at both these times. We are just 840 miles from Fort Wilderness so it's an easy day and a half. Check the crowd level charts in any of the Disney guides for the specific weeks, sometimes there is a big difference in just one week later or earlier. Also, don't wait 2 years. Good Luck!

RE: Picking up a new 2009 Jayco Seneca HD 34SS in Des Moines, IA

I purchased a Jayco from Des Moines RV last year. Very nice folks! I would however recommend that you take some short drives around the area to check for immediate fixes that need to be made before you leave for home. Good Luck!

RE: Jayco 31ss door

Jayco must have a new service department! I talked to them about the same issue three months ago and they told me the same thing. I took it to a Jayco dealer and they just bent it back up so it didn't rub the door.

RE: Georgia CG on I-75 between Dalton and McDonough

Thanks for all the help! If we don't decide to drive a little further south, we'll stay at Harvest Moon.

RE: Anybody cancel Disney because of fuel prices ?

Yes we made changes! October change: We added additional days to our Oct. reservations at Fort Wilderness. If it's going to cost more to get there, we'll just stay longer. November change: Vote for the presidential candidate that receives the least amount of political contributions from the oil industry. Will it make any difference? Probably not, but that is going to be the deciding factor for each vote I place in any political race at any level.

RE: 2008 Jayco 31ss wind whistle

cevans, thanks for the help! There was no caulking under the door threshold just like you said, and no caulking around the lights in the step area. I'll put the caulking in tomorrow morning and take it out for a test drive. You were certainly right on the caulking, I hope it was the same whistle you were hearing. Thanks Again, Steve

RE: Land Between the Lakes or Smoky Mtns??

This past fall break we went to the Gatlinburg, Dollywood, Smokies area. My girls liked the mountains and creeks the best. I would choose the mountains over Gatlinburg and the LBL. Here in western Kentucky it's really hot and humid at that time of the year and as Gale said, the lakes can be deadly on that weekend if you plan on getting on the water. Come to LBL in the fall when the leaves change it's incredible. I would however go to the LBL before I went to the commercial area of Gatlinburg, just not my thing.

2008 Jayco 31ss wind whistle

I have a 2008 Jayco Greyhawk 31ss and there is a wind whistle at 50 mph and above. The whistle seems to be coming from the passenger side somewhere between the door and the cabover window. Had it to a dealer and they thought it was coming from the awning support, only because another customer had had the same problem and the other customer said that's what it was. They had no fix for the problem. I'm going to call Jayco today. Any suggestions or previous experience? Thanks! Steve

RE: Fort Wilderness Visitors Passes?

Yes, when you register tell them you are expecting guest. In the past they have ask us for their names. We go in a motorhome without a tow vehicle, which seemed to make a difference as to whether our guest could drive to the site or we had to go pick them up at the parking lot. They also ask us if anyone of the visitors was going to stay over night. We have had several come over for the nightly campfire and movie. You'll have a great time! Remember all Disney rules are subject to change and this is what we have experienced on several past stays at Fort Wilderness.

RE: Insurance

In Kentucky, 2008 Jayco Greyhawk, full coverage, Progressive, $432.40 annually. While I have not had any experiences with progressive and our RV, my wife has had an experience with Progressive involving our auto coverage. I can not believe the service could possibly be any better than what we received. It is not my common practice to compliment any insurance company. I just wish Progressive offered health care insurance. Steve

RE: Land Between the Lakes??

I have lived most of my life in western Kentucky. This is a great place for a family vacation. As mentioned before, be sure and go to lbl.org and check it out. One of our favorite places is "The Homeplace" which used to call the 1880s homeplace. There is also a great ATV riding area. Another place to visit that has a great state park is Columbus/Belmont State Park in Columbus, Kentucky, it's a civil war park and the RV park overlooks the Mississippi River. This is a view you won't believe until you experience it, absolutely incredible. They have an old fashion burger place in the park that still serves a hamburger wrapped in wax paper. Now the negative, we sometimes go to Florida in the summer for cooler and less humid weather. The mosquitoes from here are so large that they miagrate to Florida in the winter to feed on the smaller Florida mosquitoes. Just bring the bug spray, you'll have a great time!

RE: 2008 Winnebago Access 31J

I really like the floorplan on the 31J! We would have purchased a Winnebago access 31c last year but didn't like the step up going into the bedroom. The 31J doesn't appear to have a step up. Maybe we need to sell our 08 Jayco and try one. We've had several Winnebago class c in the past. While the CCC seems small, Winnebago does an excellent job at balancing the weight and this would not be a problem for us.

RE: Best website to sell used Class C

Thanks I just got it listed on Craig's list. Are there any other recommendations? Steve

RE: Wind noise as I drive

Take some wide masking tape and tape all around the entrance door on the exterior (closing the gap between the door and the body of the RV). If this stops the air sound, then you know it's the door. Then start removing the tape in about 8" pieces. Take a piece of tape off and drive, do this repeatedly until you hear the noise return. Then put that piece of tape back on the door. If it stops the noise again, then you have locate the most likely place of the problem. Once you have located the problem area you can try adding some additional gasket to that area. The problem I have run into is sometimes it just sounds like the noise is the door. Be sure and have someone listen close to the side windows in the bunk area above the cab. I found one there on a Winnebago class c I had. You mentioned being a new RV owner, the next noise is likely going to be a rattle at the entrance door latch. That is usually solved by rapping electrical tape tightly twice around the small door post in the latch part of the door. Good luck!
